National Park Risnjak
About the forest, in the forest, for the forest
As a part of the extracurricular activity "About the forest, in the forest, for the forest", we visited National Park Risnjak.
Students got to know the flora and fauna of the National Park Risnjak by walking along the Educational Trail Leska. They found out that brown bears, wolves and lynxes live in the forests, and the National Park got its name after the lynx. Risnjak is also home to more than 100 different species of birds. In addition to a lot of information they could hear from the guide, there are about twenty information boards with educational and interesting content along the trail. The students got to know different types of plants (trees, bushes and flowers), saw ponds, learned how to behave when meeting a bear and learned a few interesting facts about the life habits of bears.
The most interesting event was the encounter with a snake which, completely uninterested in visitors, crawled into a hole in a tree.
